Struggling with Self-Confidence After Office Photos Comparison

Why do I look so bad in those photos when everyone else looks normal? Flatmate shared the office get-together pics in our group and then casually said the colleague is naturally photogenic. I know she didn’t do anything wrong, and maybe it’s just lighting, tired face and a bad angle, but now I can’t stop comparing. She got compliments and I just look like the tired, heavier one standing beside her. It’s honestly affecting my confidence more than it should, even thinking about the next team gathering and dating also, stupidly. I feel petty for being irritated because the colleague did nothing. But the photos are still there in the chat and I keep checking them. Should I quietly ask my flatmate not to post/tag those ones, or will that make it obvious I’m insecure? Maybe I should just leave it and stop looking, but why is one random photo making me feel like people only tolerate me in the group and don’t actually notice me positively.

This hits uncomfortably close. My close friend from med school posted her engagement photos recently, and although I congratulated her, I later felt horrible about myself—like everyone was moving ahead while I was still stuck in exams, hospital work and uncertainty. Your colleague has done nothing wrong, but the photo may be triggering a much bigger fear about not being positively seen or falling behind. I would probably ask your flatmate privately about not tagging those particular photos, but also stop reopening them; repeated checking will only make that one image feel like evidence.
