Feeling Left Out From Friends' Plans and Group Chats

Saw the group chat about an evening together and nobody mentioned it to me. I know I’m slow to reply and childcare makes me harder to include, but they didn’t even give me the chance to say no. It feels like they’ve decided I’m unavailable and only remember me when they need something. I can handle missing one evening. I’m more bothered by the feeling that I’m already outside the group and only just noticing. Part of me wants them to miss me, which is petty, but whatever. Do I ask one friend directly, or just let this fade without making it awkward?

Ask one trusted friend privately: “Did you assume I wouldn’t be free because of childcare?” Being slow to reply may explain the assumption, but it doesn’t make excluding you fair. Their answer will tell you whether this was a one-off or an actual pattern.
