Balancing the Desire for Homeownership with Financial Stability

Rent’s going up again at renewal. At this rate, waiting costs money too, but trying to buy would make the present pretty brittle. People talk about the deposit like that’s the hard part. I’m looking at the numbers and wondering what I could actually save each month without making daily life miserable. I do want somewhere permanent. But maybe part of that is just not wanting to feel behind. Do I keep stretching toward ownership, or accept a stable rental and protect the money I have now?

If nobody else could see the decision, would owning still feel worth making the present more financially brittle? Wanting permanence is valid, but it shouldn’t become another way to prove you’re not behind.
