Navigating Emotional Distance and Courage in Marriage Communication

I nearly kept this to myself again. Told my spouse I’ve been feeling emotionally and physically distant. I’d rehearsed it for weeks because apparently saying “I miss you” is a major production now. They actually listened. Didn’t get defensive or make it sound like I was blaming them. We agreed to set aside regular time to reconnect and talk properly. I’m relieved, but also a bit annoyed that this took so much courage. And now I’m wondering whether I should follow up on it or wait and see if they bring it up. I wanted them to notice without me asking, which is probably not very useful. Anyway. Small win, I guess. Trying not to immediately assume it won’t last.

Have you two chosen a specific time to reconnect, or did you only agree in principle? An agreement is encouraging, but the follow-through is what shows whether the pattern is actually changing.
